What We Do

Garden Design & Installation

Syretha has years of experience designing landscapes for clients, from formal gardens to wild native meadows. Each project begins with a client meeting and site visit, honing in on both the needs of the client and the landscape. Palette and plant preferences are discussed, and a design is executed taking into account site and client needs. Whenever possible native and nativar plants are used, while incorporating non-natives as the client and site require. Bee Balm does both designs which re-work existing gardens and wholly new projects and has experience designing a range of styles of gardens, from formal perennial and shrub gardens, to dynamic colorful plantings using perennials or a combination of annuals and perennials, to wild and native pollinator meadows. Bee Balm will also do all plant sourcing/ordering and installation as desired.

Container Design/Planting

Bee Balm is happy to offer a range of container designs and plantings. Containers can feature any of your favorites, including: edibles, annuals, perennials, woody plants, or a combination. Plants are selected to meet light and sight requirements along with client color and plant preferences. Clients can choose from multiple options for frequency of plant rotation; spring, summer, fall, and winter arrangements are all available.

Spring - These typically combine early blooming perennials such as primulas and hellebores with frost-hardy annuals such as violas and pansies. Can be planted as early as April depending on weather/site location.

Summer - Summer planters can combine long-blooming perennials or species with interesting foliage/texture with annual flowers and grasses, or be all annuals, herbs, edibles, or a combination. Summer planters are typically installed after Memorial Day.

Fall - Replace any fading/tired summer plants with fall-blooming annuals and perennials such as asters and chrysanthemums, and frost-hardy annual accents such as kale or other brassicas. Replacement timing depends on each site/container.

Winter - Seasonal evergreens, winterberries, dried seed heads, colorful and interesting branches. Typically installed late November. A wonderful way to decorate for the winter holidays.

Garden Maintenance

Bee Balm offers full garden maintenance services, including spring and fall cleanup/cutbacks, mulching, fertilizing, weeding, dividing, deadheading, and trimming, along with annual and perennial planting throughout the season and bulb planting in the fall. We also do small woody tree and shrub pruning and care for both health and aesthetics. Frequency of maintenance visits vary property to property, from weekly, to twice or once monthly, to spring/mid summer/fall visits for those who just need an extra boost each season.
